Holiday Club

We piloted running our own holiday club at Notre Dame over the spring holiday (due to Covid-19 restrictions preventing Notre Dame children going to Hyndland) and it seemed to be a success!  During the holidays at Hyndland we usually average around 12 Notre Dame children per day, but during the spring holiday club at Notre Dame we averaged 32 children per day!  The children (and staff!) had a lot of fun with all the different activities; Hyndland’s a great club, but it was nice for all the Notre Dame children to be in their own setting with staff they’re familiar with.

Now that we know it is viable for us to run our own club, it is our intention to continue doing so (when possible) from now on, including this summer.  I will give you an update on this ASAP – we still have to work out a few details and confirm which dates we will operate.

Registration for 2021-22

We are going to make our registration form for the 2021-22 school year available later this week and the deadline for it to be completed will be Friday 21st May.  We have decided to make the deadline earlier this year as registration is quite a time-consuming task that normally extends well into the summer holiday; we would like to get as much of this done as possible by the end of May so we can concentrate on preparations for the holiday club (another time-consuming task!) in June.

It would be helpful if you could re-register ASAP and by the deadline just to confirm your place for next year and even if you do not yet know which days you will need come August.  I have taken over the registration form for this coming year and made is specific to NDKC, so hopefully you will find it easier and quicker to fill in than the last one!

Twitter / MC Hammer!

Since parents and carers are not allowed into the club at the moment due to the current restrictions, I have tried to be more active on our Twitter account (@ndkidsclub) to keep you updated on all the happenings at the club.  Please ‘follow us’ if you would like to keep an eye on what we’re up to!

I recorded some of the children performing U Can’t Touch This by MC Hammer in the spring holiday and we made an impromptu music video for it.  I posted the video on Twitter last week and MC Hammer spotted it and reposted it on his page (twice!) it to his 3.2 million followers!  The story ended up on the front page of the Glasgow Times on Saturday!  If your child was in the video and you didn’t get a copy of the paper, I have a few spare if you would like one.  Here are the links if you would like to take a look:

I think that’s everything for now – please give me a shout if you have any questions… thanks!

Best wishes,
