Our Approach

At Notre Dame Kids Club, we provide a wide range of play opportunities every day.  Children freely-choose what they want to participate in and we encourage them to have fun, challenge themselves, pursue interests and learn new skills.

We have developed a Play Policy that considers the benefits of play, children’s rights and how best to support positive experiences for children in our care.  We believe all children are entitled to play; it is an important part of how they learn and have fun.  It is also a key component of their health and wellbeing which affects their physical, emotional, mental and social development.

Playwork Philosophy

Playwork is an emerging professional field with an increasingly recognised and qualified workforce.  It offers services which open up opportunities for children to play, and have the freedom to choose what they want to to do.  Playworkers aim to facilitate the child’s play, by providing the opportunities for  the child to play as they want.

Children like to play as there is no “right way” or “wrong way”, they can use their imagination to develop games and interact with each other without being in an adult-led environment.
